Gentle Movement for Weight Loss

Gentle Movement for Weight Loss

If you’re new to Wellness Wednesday, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.

Wellness Wednesday was created so I can share practical insights on everything from nutrition and movement to mindset, habits, and behavior change because lasting health is never just about what’s on your plate.

Living a healthy life encompasses physical, emotional, and mental well-being. It’s about having the energy to live the life you want, feeling comfortable in your own skin, and creating habits that support you for years to come. Health is about so much more than the number on the scale.

Today I want to share something that came up this week with three different midlife women I’m currently coaching.

When a woman decides she wants to change her relationship with food, it takes more mental energy in the beginning.

She has to pause before making choices she used to make automatically because her brain isn’t yet wired to think and respond in a new way.

So I understand when she’s feeling fatigued and she says to me,

“I just don’t want one more thing to think about.”

That’s when I gently point out something she doesn’t realize.

“But you are the thing.”

This usually lands hard and she gets very quiet.

Because somewhere along the way, she stopped seeing herself as someone worth making an effort to take care of, and started seeing herself as one more ‘thing to do’ on an already overwhelming list.

Between work, family, aging parents, spouses, grandchildren, appointments, and everything else life demands, making the effort to nourish herself well begins to feel like another obligation.

So she puts herself on the shelf.

She tells herself she’ll get back to eating better when work settles down.

When the kids need her less.

When life isn’t so hectic.

When she has more time.

But life rarely slows down.

The problem is that while she’s waiting, the weight slowly creeps on. Her energy begins to disappear. She doesn’t feel like herself anymore because for months, sometimes years, she’s been putting herself last.

So here’s my message for you today.

You matter.

What you want matters.

How you want to feel matters.

How you want to look matters.

Keep yourself on your own priority list, especially when life feels overwhelming. That’s when taking care of yourself matters the most.

Don’t become “the thing” you no longer want to think about.

Because You deserve your care and attention far more than the cookies ever will.
